{alienmovieposterr.jpg} M. Night Shyamalan's film production of "The Village" illustrates a society's fear of a violent world. A group of modern people joined together to build "the village" to escape tragedies that had been endured and the so-called dangerous world they lived in. In order to keep the younger generation within the village walls, the elders created a story of mythical creatures roaming the surrounding forest. My personal philosophy is projected in this thrilling story through the risks taken by the many citizens of this puritan society. Ivy Elizabeth Walker fought for the opportunity to cross into the forest to achieve medicines for her wounded beloved. Although she was blind, Ivy traveled alone in the treacherous wood and risked her life for love. Ivy's father, Mr. Walker, also took the immense risk of creating the village. But by doing so, he was able to create a desired safe life for himself and many others. This evidence reveals that the only way to achieve a happy fulfilling life is to take chances and risks, because you might be surprised by the outcome.
{crucible1.jpg} Arthur Miller's dark and dreary play, The Crucible, tells a story of real events that occurred during the Salem Witch Trials in the late 1600's. A puritan society turned to chaos when a strange illness spread through the town, making the children delusional and sick. In time of confusion, innocent people were accused of witchcraft, as a simple solution for the strange behaviors occurring through the town. One of the many accused was Elizabeth Proctor. Elizabeth was married to John Proctor, a strong-hearted man who stands up for what he believes in. While Elizabeth was in the process of conviction, J0hn Proctor risked his innocence in order to save his wife.
